Foreign Language
I've been speaking French for 8+ years. I began my journey into this gorgeous language in my freshman year of high school, and loved it so much that I continued to learn the language well past graduation requirements, even taking college courses. I began teaching French in person six years ago, and have been teaching online for the past five. I combine my passion for the language with lots of resources to create class periods where students not only learn, but practice French, and have the chance to cultivate an appreciation of French speaking cultures.

History Courses
I'm adding more classes starting in the school year 2022-23 that are more in line with my major of study in college: history. If you and your family would be interested in me offering these courses, please use the provided buttons to reach out and let me know!
When it comes to history, it can be hard to get kids excited. After all, what's the point of learning about stuff that's already happened, right? That's why I take a rather different approach to teaching history. I like students to be able to learn history through the eyes of the people who were there to see it happen. More than that, we have conversations within each class period about what impact these historical events have had on our own lives in modernity, bringing home events from long ago, and helping students answer the question, "why does it matter?" Additionally, each class period is taught from a Christian worldview, meaning that discussions will be steeped in a parabolic, and not a conventional view of history.

Western Civilization I - Tuesdays at 4:30 PM ETCOST: $60/month, 4-5 1 hour long lessons in a month. Monthly payment plans via Venmo or PayPal.
Semester course. Early Civilizations to the Renaissance through primary sources and quality lectures. Building off of a Christian worldview, this course is a general survey of western civilization from the beginning of time up to the Renaissance and Reformation. Students will split time in class between quality lectures and class discussion time, and will focus on primary sources for their assigned readings each week. Homework each week will include written analyses of the events discussed in class, as well as project-based learning assignments, such as planning their own ancient culture and presenting on their creation. The course is designed to help students not only enjoy learning history, but also to cultivate an appreciation for a Christian worldview on the past, and how it impacts the future. At the end of this course, students should be well prepared to discuss historical events from the Fertile Crescent to the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation, recalling key figures, cultural movements, and religious trends. With my certification as a NAI Certified Interpretive Guide, I am well equipped to bring history to life, and offer engaging, educational classes to students in late middle school through high school. This class meets via Zoom. Each class period will have a quality lecture time, and students will mainly be reading from primary sources to complete assignments.
